I wanted their cat. So friendly. So chill. Jumped up my step ladder, didn’t freak out when I carried a 32" ladder inside, purred constantly while following me around the home... I need to start bringing treats.
WWhenever I see segmented panes like this, I think to myself- this would look a lot better as one solid massive piece of glass. Like yeah, cost would go up considerably doing it that way (for something this big) but when you’re already paying millions to have your custom home built what’s another $10,000? Thoughts? Would you go with tons of French panes or big windows?

The gato reminds me of Pumpkin.
I prefer single windows. I’m also not a fan of the curved tops since they look dated quickly... On top for that, they really needed to just choose a style for all the windows and stick with it. It’s not the worst I’ve seen with mismatched designs lately, but if you’re going to have a custom home built...

their cat kinda looks like one of my stupid overly freindy cats

Most of the window dividers are fake, they call it simulated divided light I think (sdl bars). So they are all for architectural purposes and not designed to be easily washed.

Single pane windows are king.

I think the French panes go well with the over all aesthetic of the house. Big slabs of glass look better on more modern stuff imo.

Agreed! Maybe I can switch ‘em (sorry ImmoralMinority)

I like my window panes bigly and rectangular without a bunch of unnecessary little panes to break them up. I will, however, gladly accept triangles (or truncated ones, anyway) in a midcentury post-and-beam situation.

Same eyes and everything! This one kept rolling around too

As in non-double pane standard windows..? I agree, single pane windows are wonderful when they’re good quality architectural grade glass. For old school 50's and earlier single pane windows.... No way José. Break if you look at em wrong, and terrible visual acuity

I meant one giant pane lol. Thats why I am an accountant and not an architect/engineer/window guy.

I like the style they went with, although arched windows like that scream 1990's suburb to me. That entry way is awful, they could have done a hell of a lot more with that much space. Going by the exterior colors and materials, and interior design choices, I’m guessing they like the “Modern Craftsman” look. If you don’t mind me asking, what do you do that allowed free reign in the home?

Tell me about it. The worst part is when the adhesive starts wearing down and water leaks under the bars. Nightmare to dry off properly.

I know you are asking for comments about the windows, but I can only have eyes for that cat.
She is absolutely magnificent (tortoiseshell cats are usually female)

See, you and I are clearly on the same page design-wise

She was beautiful. If she had jumped in my truck and came home with me I probably wouldn’t have said anything...

Nothing particularly unique here, although the build quality is all around fantastic for this areas (admittedly low) standards. Funny how that happens when you own a construction company...
I run a window washing business in the Seattle area.

I bet you probably would... but feel extremely sorry about having to do so.

Can I ask a question? You ask people for permission before posting pictures of the interior of their homes online? If I was a customer, and I saw interior pics of my house online, without my permission, I’d be having a strongly worded conversation with you.

With that glass and decorative trim, I would guess 6 to 9 grand overall. Looks incredibly well done if those are truly divided lites.
I think this was under 20 grand... And that was probably too cheap, given the labor and need of a boom truck to get this in.

Familiar with MacPherson Construction?
I like that. But I’m surprised the lowers aren’t sliding or hinged doors.

Yes, I know a guy who knows a guy who does work for them potentially.

(edit for privacy) and also how goes the house hunt? Any new leads?

I like separated glass if it opens. If it isn’t going to open then one big piece would be better.
Though with that triple split up there I would have had 2 big panes that both swung inward so I would have a big open window.
That is one thing I hate about my Mom’s house. Only 1 of 4 of the bedrooms have windows. I love a fresh breeze and with her recent remodel, all of the room except that one got french doors either to the front or rear yards. They are super nice and double panes with the blinds in the middle, but she hasn’t installed and screens or anything so leaving them open is letting bugs and everything in. It is just shitty.
